Cloudy Night

cardigan: Urban Outfitters, tights:American Apparel, bracelets:Nordstoms, Rings: vintage and F21, boots:Calvin Klein (folded down)
Here's a little bit of an update on my current jewelry obsessions. The last picture doesn't show the necklace Ive been wearing every day, but you can see it in the other pics. Something else i seem to be wearing everyday is different variations of the outfit you see here. Long cardigans are so easy to throw on top of anything especially silky dresses, like this one i found at forever 21. I think it might actually be a nightgown but with black tights and a pair of chunky boots or platforms nobody knows the difference.

summer/fall

Flipping through magazines today i found some inspiration for my late summer/early fall wardrobe. I love love love the drapey beaded ann demeulemeester vest in combo with the lace up boots and boyfriend shorts. In contrast, for a dressier look I'm searching for a tailored shift like this DKNY wool dress that can be worn many ways and is soo "elegantly understated". I think platform ankle boots pair perfectly with all these above the knee hemlines, so i reallyy want look alikes of the black gucci peep toe boots and the fendi suede ankle boots.

Khakis and Linen

So, I haven't agreed with many of Rhianna's fashion choices lately...until i saw this outfit she wore to the Red Carpet Fashion Awards. She actually inspired me to dig out my khakis, which I probably haven't worn since middle school (seriously!). I was surprised by how similar they actually were to the Gucci tapered belted cuffed ones she was wearing, the major difference being the gorgeous fabric in which the Gucci pants are fashioned from. The trousers im wearing are actually Hollister, i paired them with my jeffery cambell fringe sandals which are one of my favorites right now, and a sheer white linen shirt from urban outfitters tied at the waist. With acessories i went with gold . The necklace was a gift, and the ring i got yesterday at the mall. The only thing i dont like about khakis is that they make everything look more formal and classic so i had to mix it up with a stretchy mini skirt from Forever 21!

P.S sorry for the time between posts...summer classes are harder than i expected! lol

memorial day outfit

Shirt: free people, belt: F21, shorts(cut off jeans): Hippie, shoes:converse
Hope everyone had a fun memorial day weekend! Mine was nice/relaxing and i spent most of the time outdoors doing the usual bonfire and barbecuing, and nothing says laid-back better than a pair of converse and cut offs. The cropped bubble shirt is somthing that i havent worn in a while, but it was perfect to show off my new favorite belt. I love the round studs and the big shiny buckle. It does a nice job completing the semi-rocker look i was going for haha...

Black&White

Jeans:Citizens of humanity, Necklace and Bracelet: F21, Shoes: report, T-shirt: urban outfitters.
These are my fav ripped jeans which i love because you can dress them up or down, for day or night....and with ripped jeans being seen everywhere lately i usually get tired of those type of trends quickly, but there is just something about ripped clothes in general that always looks effortlessly cool and sexy. Oh yea and i finnaly got over wearing OPI's "lincon park after dark" nail polish and ive moved on to a pink from Nicole (OPI's line) called "city pretty rose"....So my mom says my great grandma used to wear the same color, which is interesting and makes me like it even more! lol obviously it never went out of style.

Pinned Down

After being inspired by Tom Binns and his gorgeous necklaces i found another way to use safety pins. What I'm wearing is an old American Apparel dress (Fine Jersey T Dress) that i cut, then pinned with a few super big safety pins called kiltie pins, which i didn't know they were called that until i saw them at the craft store. They are usually used to pin down those Scottish kilts! haha Anyways, i thought they were perfect for this because they don't look as raw as normal safety pins, plus they're a lot more decorative. One thing i wasss worried about was the comfort level, which ended up not being a problem at all! I'm happy how it turned out :)

Wish List...

I recently discovered a line of jewelry by Tom binns, and I'm in love with ALL of it! Its so different from anything Ive seen. I think its the details that really count here. The mix of crystals/pearls/chains are genius, who would have thought safety pins could look so elegant! I'm definitely incorporating them into my wardrobe sometime soon.

Leather and Lace

ripped

As far as summer essentials, destroyed denim jeans (in white or black) are as high up on my list as cut off denim shorts and sheer flowing tanks.

Dark Night

My favorite part of this outfit is the belt and you cant really see it because its so dark out, but the darkness seemed like the perfect backdrop...Ive had this lacy shirt for a while but i always find a different way to wear it. I really like the contrast between the romantic lace and the edgy studded belt with the frayed shorts. For some reason Ive really gotten into wearing shorts with chunky platform shoes, the good part about platform shoes though, is that they are alot more comfortable than they look. I found these shoes at a super cute store little store called Shoe Envy (shopshoeenvy.com) but they are by Report so you can also find them online here. A friend told me about the store and im glad i stopped to check it out casue i had a hard time leaving! They have wayyy too much cool stuff to look at! And I might actually do a separate post about the jewelry because it dosent really stand out in these pictures...

the replacements

Seeing as how i couldn't get my gladiator platforms in brown, I THINK I've found a replacement at urban outfitters. The chunky heel and soft distressed looking leather is just calling my name...

Gladiator

It dosent look like the gladiator shoe trend is leaving anytime soon, which works for me because ive been looking forward to summer just so i can finally start wearing them! You can imagine how excited i was when my Dolce vita 'ellie' gladiator Sandals arrived. Im planning on wearing them with my frayed jean shorts and tank tops in every color.

downtown

I've been told that i wear these shoes too much but i dont care. They look amazing with everything and they are called Magdalena Braided Woven Platform by zigi soho but they remind me of the Balenciaga gladiator heels from a few seasons back. Plus i dyed them myself. Originally, i bought them in brown because of course they were sold out in black in my size..... now, i kinda want the brown ones too, but now they are ALL sold out ughh...ill get over it. You can see them here
:)

Birthday Kitty

SOOO...I just turned 21 a couple days ago!! I'm not a big drinker or anything but i did go out for drinks a few times this week with some friends, and I gotta say it feels good to be a grown up!...so far ha ha. On the other hand I've been told that after 21 "its all downhill from here" but that's just joke, right??lol But anyways this Hello Kitty necklace was one of the first things on my birthday list. I find myself wanting to wear it everyday, but i don't want to go into hello kitty overload, so i resist.

Purple AGAIN :)

I found this cute cardigan dress at forever 21 in Chicago. Its the first thing Ive gotten from their twelve by twelve line, which i usually stay away from because they have the kind of dresses that you think: "where I'm a i gonna where that too?!" but this is super cute for going out in the cold of Michigan's winters. I had a hard time deciding if i was going to wear it as fancy cardi, or a short dress. Finally I decided pair it with sheer black tights I found these at victorias secret. Which by the way i was surprised by how soft and silky they were!

Finally!

Ive been searching for the perfect a leather jacket for sooooo long. along the way i saw so many, that just weren't right. Either the cut was too boxy, or to 80's. or it was just waayy out of my budget range....then along came the jacket im wearing here, I found it at Express, and i swear it was like love at first sight!! Ive been wearing in almost everyday now. Its the perfect piece to transition you from fall to spring to early summer. It goes with my favorite, torn at the knee jeans, leggings and long slouchy cotton tanks. This jacket will definitely be a wardrobe staple for a long time to come.
